SUHAS ROY
( 1936-2016)

Suhas Roy was born in Bengal and graduated in painting from the Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata, in 1958.  Roy's art is centered on the female face and form, where his characters exist in a dreamlike realm between sensuality and authenticity. His inspiration draws from everyday life, yet his themes are equally rooted in fantasy.

Suhas Roy's art has been showcased worldwide, including exhibitions in the USA, Japan, France, Yugoslavia, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and prominent Indian galleries like the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi and Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai. He has won many awards including as the Annual Exhibition at the Indian College of Artists and Draftsmanship and the AIFACS Award.
