PARTHA SHAW
(1971 - PRESENT)

Partha Shaw, a Santiniketan-educated painter, hails from a place steeped in artistic tradition, influenced by luminaries like Nandalal Bose, the Tagores, and contemporary artists such as K.G. Subramanyan, Sunil Das, and Dharmanarayan Dasgupta.

Shaw primarily explores landscapes but does so in a contemporary manner, opting for figurative symbolism over abstract representation. This conscious choice aims to champion the virtues of non-abstract art.

Drawing from the Indian miniature tradition, Shaw developed a distinctive artistic vocabulary that seamlessly combines Indian essence with modernity. With an artistic movement already under his belt, the future holds promise for this talented artist, offering the prospect of many more fruitful years in his career.
