LAXMAN AELAY
(1965 - PRESENT)

Laxman Aelay, born in Andhra Pradesh's Nalgonda district and based in Hyderabad is renowned for his poignant depictions of his ancestral village, Kadirenigudem in Telangana, where he conveys the struggles of its inhabitants living in poverty. A versatile artist, Laxman Aelay began his artistic journey as a signboard painter and later delved into book design and illustration, earning acclaim in Telugu literary circles. His artistic evolution is marked by a dynamic shift between large and small-scale formats, with a consistent exploration of color contrasts.

In 1995, Aelay was honored with an award from the Hyderabad Art Society, and he has made significant contributions to the art world, representing India in an international exposition organized by TAANA in Chicago, USA. Notably, he designed the iconic logo for the newly formed state of Telangana in 2014, showcasing his multifaceted talents that extend beyond the realm of art.
