LALU PRASAD SHAW

Lalu Prasad Shaw, a renowned Indian artist, is celebrated for his figurative artworks. Born in Bengal, he honed his craft at the Government College of Art and Craft in Kolkata. Shaw's meticulous attention to detail, adept use of light and shadow, and profound exploration of the human form define his distinctive style.

His art captures the essence of everyday life in Kolkata, portraying its bustling streets, vibrant bazaars, and its people. Women often take center stage in his paintings and drawings, exuding dignity and grace. 

 

Shaw has garnered numerous awards, including the prestigious Padma Shri in 1998, a testament to his artistic prowess. He has also received accolades such as the Rabindra Bharati University Award, AIFACS Award, and Birla Academy Award, among others. Shaw's works grace the collections of esteemed museums worldwide, including the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Fukuoka Art Museum in Japan.
