BIMAN BIHARI DAS 
(1943 - present)

Biman Bihari Das, born in 1943 in Tamluk, West Bengal, is a distinguished Indian sculptor. In 2014, he was honoured with the Padma Shri for his remarkable contributions to the world of art. He completed his education at the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, graduating with a Diploma in Modeling and Sculpture in 1966, earning the distinction of first class.

 

Das is renowned for his mastery in bronze sculpture, notably in his 'Naika' series that exudes energy and growth while reflecting ancient Indian artistic and literary traditions. Additionally, he showcases his artistry with marble, stone, and wood.His extensive artistic journey comprises over 40 solo exhibitions across India and worldwide, along with participation in numerous group exhibitions and biennales, spanning cities like Seoul, Moscow, and Tokyo. His works have graced galleries in global hubs, including New York, Cairo, and Budapest.
